It's not often you hear that phrase. I don't think I've ever used it myself, but a few people have been tossing that around when talking about Kutiman's work at Thru-You.com who does video remixes of musicians around the world to create amazing new musical/video pieces. The one that is getting the most blog exposure is called The Mother of All Funk Chords. However, the one I think more clearly demonstrates the subtlety and intricacy of this artistic contribution is below entitled "I am new":
There have certainly been many video remixes before, but this steps it up a few notches in several directions - in no small part facilitated by abundance and wealth of YouTube performances. One of the earlier examples of musical/video editing that I really enjoyed is work by Lasse Gjertsen. He started with "human beat boxing", but really stepped it up in the following video. It's worth remembering that he doesn't know how to play these instruments:
On the topic of the great examples of creating musical mixes with video, this is another wonderful example of what one individual with a camera, video editor, a few instruments, and some determination can create:
Trying your hand at making something like this would be an excellent procrastineering project.

You know about Hexstatic, right?
Why not link to the original beatboxing video? BTW, I love your projects.
Have you seen Thriller A Cappella, by François Macré?
I like some of the stuff by Scott Bazzle. A little more sophisticated, and not some much time slice mixing, but still cool.
This isn't a new artform. I remember playing around with loop mixing programs years ago. The only difference between what I did and what these people are doing is that they do their mixing on a few tracks in Premiere rather than Acidloops or Fruityloops.
It's the exact same process, no extra effort involved. The video being there is taken care of entirely by the computer, it being attached to the audio. All the person has to do is maake the music and the video is pretty much automatic.
Greeting! What do you think of wow gold? I always lack of wow gold to buy some great item for my char before the wow patch 3.1 and I need to do wow power leveling for the cheapest wow gold or I have to search cheap wow gold on google search. The world changed since the 3.1 patch released. Short of buy wow gold for me wasn't so high frequency now. And I’m curious why this situation happened? The items became cheap? Or we can farm wow gold much easy? Hope someone can give me an answer.
Very cool, but hardly new. As 'mlk' hinted above, Hextatic, Coldcut and many others have been doing this stuff for years. In fact the guys from Coldcut even created some software called Vjamm which lets them do it live. It's really impressive to see bits of video recorded off TV being remixed and 'scratched' in real-time on a giant screen.
Thru-you is surprisingly well done. Not new, but very well done.
nice video

I think that at least in Gjertsen's case, it's more than just video attached to the sound. The manner in which he plays the instruments is just as important to the overall experience as the noise. The exaggerated and amusingly inept technique is the core of what sets his video apart from others in this genre, because the visual aspect of it was not an afterthought or derived from the work of others. (I am not discrediting it for being derived, just pointing out that the videos were not specifically created for the purpose of his work. This doesn't make it bad, just different. Utilizing and highlighting the work of other artists on YouTube has its own merits.)
Your Best Choice! wow power leveling and wow gold wow gold
